ZEAL Annual Academic & Cultural Festival

IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow, celebrated its 5th  Annual Academic and Cultural Festival - ZEAL on 11th February 2012 at IILM, Lucknow Campus. ZEAL provides a platform to the students to participate and exhibit their managerial and leadership competency through a wide range of activities from Academics to Cultural and Sports. Various Inter institutional competitive events were held during the day, like Business Quiz, Marketing warfare, Collage, Alpana (Rangoli), Tug of war, Radio Jockey, Treasure Hunt and many more.

This one day of extravaganza witnessed an overwhelming participation from more than 170 students from 14 colleges both UG and PG such as Jaipuria Institute of Management, Sherwood College of Management, ICCMRT, and Lucknow Public college of Professional Studies, SRM Business School, Bora Institute, LBS Girls College of Management, Integral University, IPM and Amity Business School etc.

 

The event culminated in a Prize distribution ceremony which was held in the evening in presence of several distinguished guests from academics and corporate. The Chief Guest of the evening was Mr. R.K Mittal, Senior Retd. IAS officer and President Lucknow Management Association

Industrial Visit at Scooters India Ltd

The First Year students of PGDM batch 2011-12 visited Scooters India Ltd, Lucknow, on 17th November 2011. The trip was organized with the objective of exposing the students to the various stages of the production process in an automobile industry and to get an insight into the marketing management function.

 

Udaan 2011 “A Flight into Fun and Frolic”

Students of PGDM organized a one-day cultural event “UDAAN – 2011”. This is an annual event of the institute where the students get an opportunity to showcase their talent, organization and event management skills. Speaking on the occasion the Director of the Institute Maj. Gen. B.D. Wadhwa, AVSM (Retd.) emphasized that management education is not only about classroom dynamics. Students need to be provided platforms such as sports and extra curricular activities in order to develop the overall personality of the young budding managers. UDAAN 2011 provides an opportunity to the students of IILM to plan and execute events and activities that are assigned to them. The students participated in various events with enthusiasm and zeal. The list of guests included representatives from corporates, Lucknow Management Association, CII and PHDCCI. The event concluded with distribution of prizes to the winners of various cultural and sports events.

 

Industrial Visit at Super house Group

Industrial visit was organized at Superhouse Group, Unnao on 13th October, 2011. The students were initially briefed about the organization by Col. Tripathi and Mr. Safeeq Beg. The students got the opportunity to visit three plants – Amin Internationals, Superhouse safety Division and Safety Garments. Superhouse Group is a multi- unit and multi- product conglomerate with brand leadership in the field of footwear manufacturing and exports. The Group is well equipped with the most modern machineries and a specialized workforce and produces all types of quality leather, leather goods and textile garments that are appreciated all over the world. It has annual turnover of 500 crores. Amin Internationals: The students started their visit with Amin International where they were apprised about the process of designing leather bags, leather holsters etc. Superhouse Safety Division: This division primarily deals with the making of safety shoes where the students were shown the process of shoe making right from cutting of leather to the final product. Safety Garments: This unit was one year old and the latest among all the superhouse units. This unit was dedicated to the making of safety clothes for labours working in hazardous atmosphere. The unit was divided into three parts: Procurement and testing, Cutting and Stitching.

 

The students found the visit a fruitful and rewarding experience.

 

Industrial Visit  at Parag

The First Year students of PGDM visited the Parag Dairy on  16th September 2011. The trip was organized with the objective of exposing the students to the various stages of the production process and to get an insight into the marketing management function.

 

Industrial Tour at Tata Motors

The students of PGDM 2010-12 batch went on an educational tour to Tata Motor’s at Pantnagar from 9th September to 13th September 2011, followed by an excursion trip to Nainital. Students were exposed to CSR policies, Supply Chain Management and HR policies of Tata Motor’s at Pantnagar.

 

Teacher's Day Programme

On 5th September 2011. IILM Academy of Higher Learning celebrated Teachers Day in which junior & senior batch of PGDM program jointly organised the function for teachers which were fun-filled and entertaining.

 

Paraspar Fresher Party  2011

IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow organized PARASPAR 2011 on 3rd September 2011, in which PGDM 2010-12 batch students invited all the newly admitted students of PGDM 2011-13 batch for gathering where they can share, learn and enjoy being together. The occasion was also graced by Mr and Miss Fresher competition where Mr. Gaurav Gupta titled Mr. Fresher and Ms. Pooja Sharma as Ms. Fresher. The Title of the best looking Couple went to Mr. Shikher Bhatnagar and Ms. Priyanshi Tiwari and Ms. Saumya Rastogi was crowned been Spark of the Evening.

 

Industrial Visit  at Eveready Industries Limited

The Final Year students of PGDM visited the Eveready Industries Limited on  20th August 2011. The trip was organized with the objective of exposing the students to the various stages of the production processes, Quality Management Processes, HR Practices and to get an insight into the marketing management function.

 

Orientation Programme

IILM Academy of Higher Learning, on 11th July 2011 organized its orientation ceremony of 3rd Batch of PGDM Programme. Students were welcomed in the world of professionals where out of box thinking is the key to success. Panel Discussion On Budget-2011  

IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow organized a Panel Discussion on Budget 2011 with reference to its Impact on Business and Industry. The session was highly interactive and thought provoking. Initiating the discussion, Dr. Ajay Prakash, Director, IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow raised issues of realization of fiscal deficit, increase in excise, customs duties and service tax and its impact on inflation. He also highlighted that sectors like agriculture, infrastructure, banking have gained while IT, health and hospitality sectors have been hit in the budget. Dr.Amarendra Sahoo, Regional Director (U.P. and Uttarakhand) RBI, appreciated the transfer of cash subsidy to the real beneficiaries and emphasized on the operational part of this issue. He hoped that the proposed amendment bill on financial sector reforms will help in system development and ensure in achieving 9% growth rate. Mr.Vipin Gupta  Vice Chairman (Finance and Banking) Indian Industries Association touched upon the contribution of SME and MSME sector in the total exports ,which is about 40% and it gives employment to 35-36 crore people in India. He pointed out that as against the expectations, MSME sector did not get any sops, instead some has been brought under excise net. He also highlighted  that government should promote entrepreneurship by reducing the bottlenecks as the job creators are more required if India want to reshape itself as the knowledge economy. 

 

Industrial Visit at Mirza International Limited

Industrial visit was organized at Mirza International Limited, Unnao on 3rd March 2011. Students found the opportunity extremely fruitful and were exposed to the process of manufacturing of shoes for Red Tape and OacTrak. They were briefed about the cutting, closing, storing and lasting processes. The students were also acquainted with the process of sampling and sole preparation from PVC and TPR. They also helped students to understand the working culture of Mirza International Limited.

 

ZEAL 2011

IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow organized its two-days Annual Festival ZEAL 2011, on 24th and 25th February, 2011 at Lucknow Campus. It was an inter-institutional event with an objective to provide a platform to the students to participate and exhibit their managerial and leadership competency through a wide range of activities from Academics to Cultural and Sports   events held on a competitive basis.

 

Several teams from nine different management and engineering colleges such as Jaipuria Institute of Management, Amity University,ICCMRT,IET,SMS,LBSIMDS etc.participated  in this event. More than 17 formal events in various and a few informal events were scheduled on both the days and more than 175 external participants from different colleges participated in the various events with great enthusiasm.

The event culminated on the second day i.e., 25th Feb 2011, in a Grand Prize Distribution Ceremony felicitating the winners and runners of the various events and honouring their performances, awarding Medals and certificates. Mr P R Ahuja, Chief Manager Oriental Bank of Commerce, Lucknow, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest .Mr Virendra Singh Rawat, Principal Correspondent and Bureau Chief Business Standard, Lucknow and Mr Anil Sharma, Marketing Communications Head, Vodafone were the Guests of Honour. The Prize Distribution Ceremony was followed by a Rock Band Performance named FLUX 13 which thrilled and rocked the students.

Edutainment through Movie Review

IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow organized an Inter Institutional presentation competition titled Edutainment through Movie Review on 5th February, 2011. The event aimed at to develop the critical and analytical skills of student through movie analysis. The participants described and demonstrated the key learnings drawn from the movies. In this event only final year graduating students were eligible to participate. 12 teams from LucknowUniversity and its affiliated Colleges participated with zeal and enthusiasm.

 

The participating teams made effective presentations on movies with a message and articulately presented various facets of learning. Students effectively presented how the movie Chak De India depicted role of mentor, positive affirmation and talent management, Taare Zameen Par depicted reflection of role of academic institutions, creative visualization and out of box thinking, Rocket Singh depicted salesmanship, customer satisfaction, integrity, commitment and the movie Corporate reflected corporate ethics and business values. IILM students Ms. Anuprima Saxena & Toorjo Sen Gupta made a model presentation of the movie Lagaan and highlighted the team building, positive attitude, leadership and risk taking and decision making.

Alumni Meet

ILM Alumni Association, Lucknow held its meeting on 29th January,2011. More than 50 alumni working in several companies like ITC, Birla Sunlife, Godrej, Calpro Foods, Reckitt Benckiser, Future Group, Radio Mirchi, Ajinomoto, Dr. Reddy’s Lab, Axis Bank, Management Institutions etc. attended the meeting and also interacted with the students.

 

Mr Anoop Mishra, President of the Alumni Association expressed his appreciation with regards to the commendable growth of IILM Lucknow and also stressed the importance of a strong alumni-institute interface to further enhance professional education. Mr Vivek Anand, Vice President of the Association, put forth the resolution that the alumni should facilitate the institute and the current students with regard to placements, summer training, industry interface, etc on a priority basis. The meeting was co-ordinated by Ms Meenakshi Chaturvedi, Secretary of the Association.

 

The Alumni Association also organized a cultural evening, in which noted Ghazal Singer, Kamal Khan mesmerized the audience with his incredible recitals. This event was planned and executed by the former students of IILM Lucknow, with special contribution of the Executive Body of the Association, comprising alumni from all previous batches of IILM Lucknow. Alumni and students enjoyed the evening very much.


Brainstorming Session: Collaborative Event with IIT Roorkee

IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee jointly organized a Brainstorming Session on “Rationale, Multiple and Effective Usage of Faculty Resources: Necessity, Desire and Issues” on July 31, 2010 at Hotel Clarks Avadh, Lucknow. Chief Guest Prof. M.K. Mishra, Vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow delivered the key note address. The key participants included Prof. A.K. Singh, Director, Giri Institute of Development Studies, Prof. Vinay Shama and Prof. Rajat Agarwal of IIT Roorkee, Prof. M. Akbar, Prof. Pankaj Kumar and Prof. A.K. Mishra of IIM Lukcnow, Prof. Vaishampayan, Dr. Manoj Dixit and Dr. Madhurima Lall of Lucknow University, Prof. M.S. Sodha, former Vice Chancellor, Lucknow University, Mr. Anil Shukla, Head CII, Mr. D.S. Verma, Executive Director IIA, Mr. D.K. Verma, Additional Director (Employment) and IILM faculty members.

 

Inter-Institutional Presentation Competition in association with IIT Roorkee

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee and IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow jointly organized an Inter-Institutional Presentation Competition for management students on the theme “Role of Students of Higher Education in Knowledge Economy” on August 29, 2010 at IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow Campus. After qualifying the first round, students of several management colleges including MNNIT Allahabad, MONIRBA University of Allahabad, Amity University, IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow, IPM, Galgotias Institute of Management & Technology, Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management, LBSIMDS, ICCMRT etc. participated in the event with great enthusiasm. The performance of the students was judged by an expert panel of eminent judges comprising Prof Devashish Das Gupta, IIM Lucknow, Mr Anant Swaroop Vice President (Legal), Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd and Prof Rajat Agarwal, IIT Roorkee on the basis of the written report, power point presentation and question-answer session. Padmashree Prof. M.S Sodha, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow was the Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution Ceremony, in which cash prizes of 15,000/- and 10,000/- respectively were given to the Winner and Runner-up teams.

 

FDP Cum Workshop

On 2nd July 2010, an FDP cum Workshop was conducted on “Effective Pedagogy for PGDM Teaching”. The Keynote speakers were Prof. Vinay Sharma, Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee and Prof Ajay Prakash, Director IILM, Lucknow. The major focus of the FDP cum workshop was on upgrading the teaching, training and research skills of management teachers. Some of the key benefits derived from the FDP were learning of innovative pedagogical practices, uses of case method, promotion of industry exposure to enable academic excellence and classroom management techniques. The session was interactive and informative.

 

Zeal 2010

IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow celebrated its two-day annual function ZEAL 2010, in which several competitive co-curricular, extra-curricular and sports events like Debate, Jam, HR Games, Finance Games, Marketing Games, Market Research Game, Mehndi, Rangoli, Face Painting, Carrom and Chess Championships etc. were organized. Winners of the competitive events, meritorious alumni and other meritorious students were felicitated in the grand prize distribution ceremony on 27th March, 2010. The occasion was graced by Mr. Anil Shukla, Head, CII, U.P as Chief Guest and Mr. Anant Swaroop, Vice President (Legal), Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd., as the Guest of Honour.

Step-out Ceremony

IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow organized the Step-out Ceremony at the campus on 7th June, 2010. It was a moment of nostalgia when students of the passing out batch shared their experience of past two years. All the students were felicitated with a memento and the faculty members blessed the students, wishing them a prosperous future.

 

Illuminati Activities

Illuminati, the personal growth initiative of IILM Lucknow organized numerous events for the PGDM students which included Ice Breaking Session, Management Tambola, Mock Placement Session, Amoeba Race, Movie Review, etc

 

Student Club Activities 

The Student Clubs of IILM Lucknow, namely Academic Club, Industry Interface Club, Cultural Club and Sports Club organized numerous activities throughout the year including presentation contests, student seminars, business quizzes, business newspaper discussions, industry visits, guest lectures, cultural evenings, outdoor and indoor sports tournaments, etc.

 

Business Quiz Organize by Business Standard

A business quiz was  held in IILM Academy of Higher Learning, in which all students of PGDM batch 10-12 participated and the winner were for the event are Ms. Farha Haidar(1st position), Mr. Vaibhav Tandon ( 2nd position) andMs.Saumya Verma( 3rd position).

 

Guest Lectures 2010

The Institute regularly conducts guest lectures from industry and premier institutions for management students on various Contemporary Corporate Issues. List of distingushed guest speakers, who delivered the special talks and interacted with the students during 2010 in given in the list of IILM Resource Persons.

 

Industry Visits

In order to give the students an opportunity to study real life industry situations through observation and to make them aware of manufacturing process, working conditions, environment protection facilities, and the various problems faced by the industry, several industry visits are organized on a regular basis. The PGDM Final year students did their Experiential Learning Project in their preferred functional areas during the month of October 2010. The following organizations imparted the training:

Summer Internship Preparatory Workshop
A Summer Internship Preparatory Workshop was organized for the students of PGDM Batch 2009-11 in May 2010. The preparatory workshop aimed at preparing the mindsets of the students for effective learning during their summer internship in their respective organisations. Various issues were addressed by the expert faculty from industry as well as academia such as workplace etiquettes, application of research methodology, effective report writing tips etc, for better experiential learning.

 

Ojas 2010
The students of IILM Academy of Higher Learning participated in Ojas 2010 organized by Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow between 25th -27th October, 2010. A total of 35 students participated in various competitive events like Antardrishti (Academic Events), Pratibimb (Cultural Events) and Pratispardha (Sports). The students learnt planning, organizing, team management and leadership skills during the event. The IILM team won one First, nine Second and two Third Prizes.

 

Summer Training Presentation
A student of PGDM Final Year participated in the Inter- Institute Summer Training Project Presentation Competition 2010 organized by School of Management Sciences, Lucknow on October 8, 2010 and got commendations from the jury for his excellent efforts. The activity was extremely beneficial from the point of view of corporate knowledge as well as presentation skills.

 

National Competition for Management Students (NCMS)
A team of students participated at the Regional Level in the 7th National Competition for Management Students (NCMS) held on September 2 & 3, 2010 at New Delhi, organized by All India Management Association, on the theme "Managing Organizational and Management Challenges in India". The presentation of the IILM team was highly appreciated by the jury members. The students were exposed to a plethora of current management practices in India and found the event highly informative and educative.

 

Climate Change and Sustainable Development Lectures
A team of students attended the S. N. Tripathi Memorial Lectures, 2010 on “Climate Change and Sustainable Development through Energy Efficiency and Clean Energy” organized on August 23, 2010 at Lucknow, by Swayam Siddha and Lucknow Management Association. The subject matter of the discussion revolved around evolution of society and energy at the cost of natural resources and how pollution is leading to global warming. It emphasized on how greenhouse gas emissions can be significantly reduced and how sustainable development strategies can be evolved to address the climate change.

 

Confluence 2010
Confluence 2010, a two-day business strategy simulation event organized by IIM Ahmedabad in Lucknow on November 18-19, 2010, was played on software Smart Sims. Student teams from IILM AHL, Lucknow participated in the event. Mr. Jayant Krishna, Head, TCS Lucknow, delivered the inaugural address. The key learning from the event were an understanding of core business functions, ability to visualize business, development of management and team building skills and application of conceptual knowledge in real life situations.

 

NTPC Electron Quiz 2010
Student teams participated in the electron quiz organized by NTPC on November 24, 2010 . It was a good learning experience for students wherein they got exposure to the competitive levels of other B-Schools, the types of questions asked in a B-Quiz, analyzing the present knowledge levels and how can it be improved.
