National Youth Day: Awakening the Youth Power

National Youth Day’ is celebrated in India on 12th January every year. This day marks the birth of great Indian Philosopher Swami Vivekanand Ji. He was the chief disciple of Swami Ramakrishna Paramahansa, of Ramakrishna Mission. Swami Vivekanand Ji was the first known Hindu Swami to go to the west, where he introduced eastern thought at the World Parliament of Religions, in connection with the World Fair in Chicago in 1893. Government declared January 12th as the National Youth Day in 1984 and since 1985, the event is celebrated in India every year. The motto of declaring youth day was to motivate the youth and inculcate these pious ideas into the coming generation. The youth i.e., falling within the age group of 15 – 25 years constitute nearly 40% of the total population of India. “Supreme value of youth is incalculable and indescribable. Youth is the most precious part of human life. The way in which you utilise this period will decide the nature of the coming years that lie ahead of you. Your happiness, success, honour and good name all depends upon the way in which you like now, in the period” – Swami Vivekananda Ji’s advice to the youth. National Youth Day is observed with great devotion towards Swami Vivekananda at Headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission as well as their branch centres. The National Youth Day is also observed in almost all educational institutes of the country with great enthusiasm.

Awakening the youth of today!!

“Youth is humanity in the making. If something is in the works, the more attention you pay to it, the better the product will be.” Youth is a worthwhile phase of one’s life. The age where the age group is no longer of a child but yet to turn out to be a grown-up is the youth age. It is an age recognized by traits of heroism, toughness, muscle, stimulation, curiosity, judgmental attitude and even much more. At this stage, even though driven by fantasy or freedom and the power to choose his or her response, all must be cautiously exercised. It is a golden phase to accomplish the dual goals of intelligence and character. “Arise! awake and stop not until the goal is reached.” Youth, in the present era, is a powerful asset of the nation possessing the abundant energy and the zeal considered necessary for the overall advancement of the same. Youth is a critical age of development, a period of uncertainty when everything is in ferment. Youth is full of strength and intellectual capability, which if properly utilized could assist in turning the invisible into visible, the hardships to triumph and the hard work to success thus leading to the overall growth of a nation. “If the world was guided by youth, it would be a better place, they are the ones who are most alive, idealistic, and energetic.” Youth is important because they will be our future. Today they might be our partners, tomorrow they will go on to become leaders. The youths are very energetic and enthusiastic. They have the ability to learn and adapt to the environment. Similarly, they are willing to learn and act on it as well to achieve their goals. Our youth can bring social reform and improvement in society. No country can prosper without its youth.  Furthermore, the nation requires their participation to achieve the goals and help in taking the country towards progress. Likewise, we see how the development of any country requires active participation from the youth. It does not matter which field we want to progress in, whether it is the technical field or sports field, youth is needed. It is up to us how to help the youth in playing this role properly. We must make all the youth aware of their power and the role they have to play in nation-building. “The best resource that a nation can have to grow is Youth. Cheers to the young energies and young minds on National Youth Day.” Youth is the golden period to cherish a big dream full of passion and energy. Youth are the most important asset of their Nation and they should be guided in the right direction because as mentioned above the partners of today will be the leaders of tomorrow and every individual is responsible for development so it is the duty of all the youth to be first destined towards their goal and towards their nation’s growth. This is the voice of a youth to other youths on this National Youth Day. “If you are young then you have everything in your favour, so make the best use of the time. Wish you on National Youth Day.” Write-Up By: Shubham Chaurasia PGDM (Batch 2021-23)

He told everyone about the spreading of love and affection done by Hinduism, for his speech he got the standing ovation from the crowd. He always follows his Guru Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and saddened by his death he gave up all the worthy pleasures and become a monk. From that point oftime he used to spread love, peace and knowledge among humanity. Hence every year we celebrate this day as an inspiration we can get from Swami Vivekananda his knowledge and teachings he used to give at his own time.
